It’s important for your celebrant to have a number of things covered including

– Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance

– Copyright protection and APRA commercial music performance license exemption

– Ongoing Professional Development training

Often at weddings I’m asked to play the entrance music or a favourite song by the bride and groom via my ipad through the PA system. To do this legally, I need to ensure I am following the copyright laws of Australia. My membership with the AFCC allows me to lawfully play music in a public place.

My membership with AFCC also ensures that I am protected with adequate insurances to cover me in case of any legal proceedings. Imagine the case where Aunty Joan accidentally trips over the PA cord on her way to throw the confetti, breaking her hip and ending up in hospital….Let’s hope something like that never happens but if perchance it did, and Aunty Joan decided to make a claim against my business, then I am covered to be able to pay those costs.

As a celebrant I am expected to stay up to date with all of the legal changes and news relating to  Marriage through the Attorney General’s Department. AFCC offers me the opportunity to take part in ongoing professional development training so that you can feel assured that I am fulfilling all of my legal obligations as your marriage celebrant.
